The project was to create a twin bungalow with similar uses in both the bungalows, with the design we always wanted it to look like a single bungalow unit even though we were designing for two different individuals.
Hence the massing plays an interesting role in keeping the look of a single bungalow. The front facade is kept with minimum openings to allow for privacy from the main road as the bungalow did not have a front garden. The slits on the front facade would allow light to form an interesting pattern in the living room and also allow privacy.
The rear side sees a receding mass which is designed as an enclosed space to allow a feeling of warm outdoor space and forms semi covered gardens attached to the master bedrooms at the topmost level. As the bungalow requirements demanded it to be a 4 storied structure, glass and overlooking spaces are designed to bring in transparency.
