Project Details

The planning of the mixed used development for Waqf board at Parbhani campus is based in the basic principles of Islamic architecture, which includes secular and religious style.

The principal Islamic architectural types are: the Mosque, the Tomb, the Palace and the Fort. Axial planning for overall campus, large fore-ground spaces created by low height landscape, huge areas of gardens and water features adds the aesthetic value to the perfect geometrical shaped structure at the background.

For the decoration purpose and adding the artistic value the rigid geometry of the structure “jali” is used, which creates interesting shadow patterns and also allows to cut down on harsh light. For similar purpose of elevation even carvings are done on the structures.

Arches are the one of the key element of Islamic architecture. Most popular arch type which is used to emphasize the elevation and interiors, is horseshoe arch.

Campus gets divided in different spaces due to the axial layout of the landscape, which creates the scope of different functional spaces around the structure. Semi covered pathways gives the protection against, all odd weather throughout the year. Temporary covered spaces can be used for different functions such as exhibition areas or market. These semi-public and public spaces are emphasized by long colonnade accompanied by water features or lawn surrounded by it.

Minarets give the sense of protection / enclosure to the structure, which are used at the main entrances of the campus.
