The master plan was intended to revive the struggling cinema industry in Kolhapur which at some point hosted some of the finest studios and artists in the entertainment industry. Hence the master plan called for some fresh ideas with mixed uses of outdoor and indoor studios, entertainment facilities, hospitality and administration.
The site being naturally contoured allowed to create a focal planning and the natural surroundings were envisaged to be used as a backdrop for the open studios. The existing contours were used to create a water stream along the permanent and temporary sets. A museum, theme park and gardens were proposed as the multiuse spaces for the film locations and visitors as well. Considering the privacy required for film shooting the internal roads were kept to a minimum in the master plan, and pedestrian movements were planned meticulously to allow battery operated vehicles to manoeuvre easily, thus making it a state of art campus for film shooting.
